Renault Set to Showcase Cutting-Edge Electric Lineup at IAA Mobility Show: Unveiling the All-New Scenic E-Tech

Renault has made waves in the automotive world by divulging its eagerly anticipated lineup for the upcoming IAA Mobility Show in Munich. The showstopper of the event will undoubtedly be the debut of the fully electric Scenic E-Tech, representing the fifth generation of the popular family hauler. Following closely on its heels, the curtain will also rise on the Grand Kangoo minivan, presenting an expanded vision of utility and style.

The 2024 iteration of the Renault Scenic E-Tech has tantalized enthusiasts and experts alike through a shadowy teaser image, which provides a glimpse of its visage adorned with split LED headlights. A distinctive covered grille, embellished with a unique pattern, further adds to the intrigue. Given that earlier sightings of the Scenic E-Tech have revealed minimal camouflage, the teaser hardly comes as a shock. Breaking from the minivan norms of previous models, this iteration adopts the allure of a contemporary crossover, boasting a length of 4,490 mm (176.8 inches) that ensures a capacious five-seater cabin.

Renault’s communication regarding the Scenic E-Tech is underpinned by its claim to be “the first production car to embody the brand’s new sustainable development strategy: on environment, safety, and inclusion.” While specifics are yet to be fully unveiled, insiders speculate an emphasis on eco-friendly interior materials and the integration of cutting-edge safety technology from the revered Renault Group.

Positioned above the smaller Megane E-Tech within Renault’s electric vehicle lineup, the Scenic E-Tech is anticipated to rest on the robust CMF-EV architecture. Diverging from its FWD-only counterpart, the Megane E-Tech, the Scenic E-Tech is reportedly slated to offer a dual electric motor AWD configuration. This formidable setup is projected to churn out an impressive 389 hp (290 kW / 394 PS), mirroring the performance of the closely affiliated Nissan Ariya.

On a parallel track, the Grand Kangoo is poised to steal its share of the limelight. An elongated version of the Kangoo minivan, it is poised to provide a spacious three-row, seven-seater layout accompanied by a generously proportioned cargo hold. Drawing inspiration from the Renault Hippie Caviar Motel Concept unveiled the previous year, the Grand Kangoo will underscore its passenger-centric interior and house a combustion engine beneath its hood, at least until the eagerly awaited fully electric “E-Tech” iteration makes its entrance.

As anticipation mounts ahead of the IAA Mobility Show, the automotive world eagerly awaits the official unveiling of these innovative offerings from Renault. The event is scheduled to kick off on September 4, where the spotlight will be firmly fixed on the Scenic E-Tech, followed by the Grand Kangoo’s debut on September 5. Enthusiasts and industry observers alike are poised to witness the next phase of Renault’s forward-looking vision.
