Lamborghini has taken the wraps off an intriguing concept car named the Lanzador, which is set to pave the way for the brand’s inaugural all-electric model anticipated to debut in 2028. Branded as the ‘Ultra GT’ by Lamborghini, the Lanzador presents a distinctive sporty crossover that distinguishes itself from the electric offerings within the VW Group stable.
While specifics about the technology underpinning the Lanzador are scant at this stage, Lamborghini has divulged key details. Each axle is equipped with a high-performance electric motor, jointly producing an impressive peak output of over one megawatt, equivalent to more than 1,360 horsepower. Notably, the all-wheel drive system incorporates active e-torque functionality on the rear axle to enhance dynamic cornering capabilities. Powering this system is an innovative “high-performance battery of a new generation” that promises a substantial driving range. Despite the preliminary nature of this information, Lamborghini has opted to keep further technical details under wraps, leaving questions about platform utilization or independent construction unanswered.

Emphasizing the Lanzador’s unique body design, Lamborghini underscores its pioneering vehicle classification as the ‘Ultra GT’. This conceptual study boasts an unconventional configuration with doors on both sides and a 2+2 seating arrangement. Officially labeled as a four-seater, the rear seats might not be optimal for adult comfort, but the model’s distinction as an ‘Ultra GT’ stems from its fusion of four seats, elevated ground clearance, and the aspiration to “blend the performance and driving pleasure of a super sports car with the adaptability of an everyday vehicle.”
Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer, asserts that the brand views electrification as an avenue for amplified performance and driving dynamics, rather than a limitation. Mohr states, “For us, electrification does not mean a restriction, but an intelligent opportunity to develop more performance and drivability.” This sentiment underscores Lamborghini’s commitment to preserving power, driving enjoyment, and performance in their electric offerings, thereby crafting an all-electric experience that clientele can relish in their daily routines.
Mohr goes on to illuminate Lamborghini’s future trajectory in electrified high-performance vehicles. He outlines how the fusion of hardware components, software systems, and advanced control mechanisms will define the brand’s forthcoming lineup. Mohr emphasizes Lamborghini’s intention to elevate integrated driving dynamics control to an unprecedented echelon, promising patrons an entirely novel driving experience.
Complementing the active driving dynamics control and aerodynamic adjustments, the concept also boasts finely calibrated torque distribution and an innovative “Wheelspeed Control” feature. The latter enables meticulous power and force modulation at individual wheels, accentuating precision during turns and facilitating agile driving on twisty roads, even during swift acceleration.

Lamborghini is gearing up to actualize the production model of the Lanzador in its Sant’Agata Bolognese facility. In tandem with this endeavor, the manufacturing site is poised for expansion, accompanied by an influx of new personnel. Following the Lanzador’s debut, Lamborghini’s roadmap includes the introduction of an all-electric iteration of its SUV model Urus in 2029. In the interim, the automaker is slated to imbue its entire product lineup with hybrid technology by the close of 2024. Earlier this year, Lamborghini introduced its maiden production model featuring a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the Revuelto.
In the words of Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann, “With Lanzador, we are looking into our future without forgetting our DNA.” Drawing inspiration from the marque’s heritage, Winkelmann notes that Lamborghini’s initial coupés with front engines embodied a blend of sportiness and elegance, designed as practical 2+2-seaters for everyday driving. Winkelmann also underscores that the Lanzador encapsulates the company’s ethos of combining superlative performance with innovative technologies and daring design, aligning seamlessly with Lamborghini’s strategic vision known as “Direzione Cor Tauri.”
