Gogoro and Muji Partner to Launch Sustainable Electric Scooters and Merchandise

Gogoro, a pioneer in electric mobility and battery swapping technology, has recently teamed up with Japanese lifestyle brand Muji for an innovative collaboration. The partnership, driven by the “Recycling for Good” initiative, aims to tackle polypropylene plastic waste by introducing recycled plastic body panels on their new electric scooters. The joint effort has resulted in the creation of two special edition smart scooters, the Viva ME and the Viva Mix ME, both designed to simplify and electrify urban mobility.

Leading Muji designer, Naoto Fukasawa, played a pivotal role in curating the scooters. Known for his exceptional design work for Muji, Fukasawa brought in classic Muji elements, including rustic colours, clean bodywork, and user-friendly design.

In the official press release, Fukasawa emphasised the importance of design upholding integrity towards people, the environment, and life. The collaboration between Gogoro and Muji, two renowned brands, aims to create a synergy that goes beyond a simple sum of parts.

Gogoro has been no stranger to sustainability efforts, having introduced mass-produced recycled polypropylene plastics for its scooter body panels in 2019 with the Gogoro 3 Smart Scooter. Since then, their entire range of Viva Smart Scooters has featured these eco-friendly body panels, laying the foundation for the collaboration with Muji.

The “Recycling for Good” initiative goes beyond just utilising recycled plastic in scooter manufacturing. It seeks to promote a lifestyle change, encouraging individuals to be more conscious about plastic waste. In Taiwan, the initiative calls on people to deposit their polypropylene waste at Muji and Gogoro outlets. The collected waste will then be processed and used in constructing the special edition scooters, forging a sustainable and environmentally responsible approach to urban mobility.
