Blink Charging, a provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, has announced the successful transition of all former SemaConnect chargers and services to the newly developed Blink Network. This milestone not only marks the final step in integrating SemaConnect into Blink Charging but also highlights the company’s commitment to streamlining operations and offering enhanced services to its customers.
Following the acquisition of SemaConnect in June 2022, Blink Charging gained access to SemaConnect’s hardware development and manufacturing capabilities. With the inclusion of SemaConnect’s Maryland plant, Blink can now comply with the Buy American mandates, thereby enabling the company to take advantage of the $7.5 billion Biden Administration EV infrastructure bill. Currently, Blink Charging has over 10,000 EV chargers in production, and it plans to scale up production to 50,000 units annually.

As part of the acquisition, Blink Charging also obtained SemaConnect’s charging network, which has now been seamlessly integrated into a unified network developed collaboratively by both companies’ engineering teams.
The newly established Blink Network has been rebuilt from scratch, providing an expandable platform with ongoing feature additions. Former SemaConnect customers can now enjoy the convenience of managing their chargers through the Blink Network, which offers customizable charging rates based on user groups and zones. Additionally, customers can easily track their energy usage and fees for each charging session.
The advanced platform also empowers site hosts to onboard and connect chargers worldwide, as it offers international management capabilities in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, Canadian, Greek, and Hebrew. Blink Charging has plans to add more languages to further cater to a diverse user base. Moreover, the Blink Network supports multiple currencies, allowing charging point operators (CPOs) to create dynamic pricing protocols tailored to specific applications, locations, and schedules.
Harjinder Bhade, the Chief Technology Officer of Blink Charging, commented on the rapid integration of SemaConnect’s hardware and features into the new platform. He emphasized that this achievement highlights the iterative nature of the Blink Network, setting the stage for continuous enhancement, improvement, and expansion of the company’s software capabilities.
With the successful transition of SemaConnect chargers and services to the new Blink Network, Blink Charging is well-positioned to deliver a seamless and user-friendly experience to its expanding customer base. The company’s efforts to merge and optimize operations reflect its commitment to driving the adoption of electric vehicles and creating a robust charging infrastructure to support the growing EV market.
