In an unexpected turn of events, the Citroen My Ami Buggy has taken the automotive world by storm, captivating customers with its undeniably cool and adorable design. This mini electric off-roader, which boasts a door-less structure, has proven to be even more popular than anticipated by the automaker. Astonishingly, all 800 units were sold within a mere 10 hours after orders opened.

The My Ami Buggy was made available for purchase at 11 a.m. CEST on Tuesday, June 20, and by the end of the day, there were no more units left for sale online. Previously only accessible to buyers in France, this year marked the first time that Citroen expanded availability to other markets.

Last year, the entire allocation of 50 units sold out in less than 17-and-a-half minutes. However, this year, Belgian customers displayed even greater enthusiasm for the vehicle, with all 65 examples of the micro-EV being spoken for just nine minutes after orders opened.

Meanwhile, in France, where 430 units were made available to customers, the response was equally impressive. The entirety of the allocation was sold in a mere two hours, with a peak of 300 sales per hour during that time. Clearly, customers have developed a genuine fondness for this charming little electric vehicle.

Remarkably, the title of the most eager customer (or, at the very least, the most proficient online shopper) goes to Spain. One individual managed to secure a brand-new Citroen My Ami Buggy in just 1 minute and 10 seconds.

Overall, Citroen offered 800 units of the My Ami Buggy for sale online this year, reaching customers in various countries such as France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, the UK, Luxembourg, and Greece. An additional 200 units are currently in production and will be available for purchase this summer in Turkey, Morocco, as well as in French overseas departments and territories.

Originally conceived as a concept car, the My Ami Buggy garnered such immense popularity among fans that Citroen made the decision to bring it into production. With a limited top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h), this unique vehicle ditches traditional doors in favor of steel hoops, while sporting rugged steel wheels, roof frames, and a distinctive matte paint finish.

Deliveries of the highly sought-after My Ami Buggy are expected to commence in September, with prices ranging from €7,790 to €10,450 ($8,560 to $11,483 USD at current exchange rates). As eager customers eagerly await the arrival of their charming electric off-roaders, the success of the My Ami Buggy serves as a testament to the growing fascination and demand for innovative and eco-friendly transportation options.
