Volkswagen has announced its latest collaboration in the film industry, teaming up with co-producers Zag and Mediawan Kids & Family for the production of “Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie.” As part of this partnership, Volkswagen will introduce four cars from its ID. series, including a concept car based on the iconic Beetle.
While specific details about the Beetle EV concept remain scarce, the movie poster reveals its return in an all-electric form, marking the revival of this beloved model. The concept showcases the classic round headlamps without a grille, as electric vehicles do not require the same level of cooling as internal combustion engine cars. Additionally, the concept seems to feature transparent doors, although it’s uncertain if this design element will make it to any potential production model.
Joining the Beetle EV concept in the film will be the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, renowned for its two-tone Candy White and Lime Yellow exterior. The all-electric minivan recently debuted in the United States, offering a long wheelbase and three-row seating configuration. The movie will also include appearances by the ID. Vizzion Concept and ID.4 models from Volkswagen’s ID. series.
Producers Aton Soumache and Emmanuel Jacomet expressed their excitement about the collaboration with Volkswagen, citing shared values between the two brands and the importance of promoting a better world. Director Jeremy Zag highlighted the enjoyable process of integrating Volkswagen’s vehicles into the movie’s Parisian setting, emphasizing the theme of environmental responsibility and a brighter future.
Fans eager to catch a glimpse of the Beetle EV concept can look forward to the global release of “Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie” in theaters on July 5. Subscribers to Netflix will also have the opportunity to stream the animated superhero film starting July 28, 2023.
