Italian carmaker Lancia has unveiled its ten-year vision for the brand with the all-electric concept vehicle, the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE. The vehicle study is based on the chassis and powertrain of the future Lancia Ypsilon, which will launch in 2024 as an all-electric and hybrid variant. However, it is unclear whether the Pu+Ra HPE will ever hit the road.
According to Luca Napolitano, CEO of the Lancia brand, the Pu+Ra HPE represents the brand’s way of conceiving and experiencing the car. The EV boasts an electric range of more than 700 kilometers, with efficient aerodynamics being a prerequisite. Features such as a low roof, slim digital wing mirrors, and aerodynamic wheels all contribute to the vehicle’s impressive range.

The Pu+Ra HPE’s interior was developed in collaboration with luxury furniture brand Cassina. According to Stellantis, around 70% of the touchable surfaces in the interior are made of environmentally friendly materials. The vehicle also focuses on sustainability, with four values guiding the brand on the path of sustainability: reinterpretation of tradition, Italian spirit, eclecticism, and “home feeling.”
The Pu+Ra HPE showcases a timeless, typically Italian style with an innovative approach that goes beyond the typical design language of an automobile. The model’s colour, “Progressive Green,” features a gold hue created through a unique process using liquid metal pigments. The cars’ volumes are created from the intersection of elementary and iconic forms such as the circle and the triangle.
The HPE acronym stands for “High Performance Electric,” which refers to the high-performance electric powertrain, high environmental sustainability, and new technology. Lancia first used the HPE acronym in the 1970s for the Beta model. The designation “High Performance Estate” characterised a sporty station wagon at that time.
As previously reported, from 2026, all new vehicle models from Lancia will be fully electric, and from 2028, the brand will offer exclusively electric vehicles. It remains to be seen whether the Pu+Ra HPE will be offered as a production vehicle later.
