Smart, the all-electric pioneer, has introduced its first-ever sports utility coupe, the Smart #3, at the Auto Shanghai show. The model’s European premiere will take place at the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung in Munich this coming September, with sales starting in early 2024.

While Smart has not released any powertrain details or information about the battery pack of the #3, the company is committed to providing a top-quality experience for its users. “We are proud to finally present our first-ever sports utility coupe, the all-new smart #3 to the world. As an all-electric pioneer, Smart is committed to uncompromising quality of experience and interactions,” said Dirk Adelmann, the CEO of Smart in Europe.

The Smart #3’s design closely resembles that of the existing #1 model. Both models have a trapezoidal opening in the front fascia, with the #3’s element featuring a sharper outline. The headlights of both models have a roughly triangular shape and a light bar across the nose. The #3 has a sleeker roofline than the boxy #1, and they share full-width taillights that taper into a skinnier section in the middle. The exterior is available in eye-catching colors like Photon Orange Metallic and Electric Blue Matt.

The interior of the #3 features a low-profile digital instrument cluster, and a 12.8-inch, tablet-like infotainment screen takes center stage on the dashboard. The cabin is completed with three circular HVAC vents, and buyers can upgrade to a 13-speaker Beasts stereo. Upholstery in Vibrant Brown is available.

The Smart #1, which already has a rear-mounted electric motor generating 268 horsepower and 253 pound-feet, is available with a 66-kilowatt-hour battery that provides between 260 miles and 273 miles in the WLTP cycle. The system supports 150-kW DC charging. There is also a performance-focused Smart #1 Brabus with a dual-motor powertrain that generates 422 hp and can hit 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds.

As of yet, Smart has not announced whether there will be a Brabus variant for the #3. Regardless, the Smart #3 is sure to impress with its sleek design and cutting-edge technology, and its arrival in 2024 is eagerly anticipated by auto enthusiasts worldwide.
