The city government of Rzeszow has recently placed an order for six 9-meter, low-entry electric buses from Solaris Bus & Coach. The vehicles will be accompanied by a complete package of turnkey e-mobility solutions, including the design and construction of charging infrastructure. The Urbino 9 LE electric buses are expected to be delivered by the end of 2023 and will be added to the city’s existing fleet of 12-meter electric buses, which have been operating since 2019.
The new buses are part of Rzeszow’s climate-neutral policy, which aims to reduce emissions and improve air quality. The city’s mayor, Konrad Fijołek, said, “The purchase of zero-emission buses fits perfectly with the city’s climate-neutral policy. Today we signed a contract for the purchase of six electrics, but we are already thinking about making hydrogen buses the next vehicles of our public transport.”
The Urbino 9 LE electric buses will be equipped with an electric central motor and Solaris High Energy batteries with a total capacity of 280 kWh. They will also have plug-in systems and rails mounted on the roofs for inverted pantographs. The buses can carry up to 65 passengers and are ideal for navigating through crowded and narrow urban spaces.
Krzysztof Musiał, Sales Director of the Southeast Region in Poland at Solaris Bus & Coach, said, “We believe that by providing cities with zero-emission vehicles, and by offering ready-to-use charging infrastructure solutions, we facilitate the ‘green transformation’ of cities and make a real impact on the quality of life of their residents.”
Solaris is a leading provider of e-mobility solutions for public transportation, with over 600 Urbino electric buses currently operating in 52 Polish cities.
