Porsche, a brand known for creating fun and engaging vehicles, has doubled down on its mission to get people to enjoy their drives with the recent software update of its ROADS app. The update adds an artificial intelligence (AI) feature that suggests scenic routes based on various parameters, including road curves, topography, landscape features, and points of interest.
According to Robert Ader, Chief Marketing Officer at Porsche AG, the app’s centerpiece is the scenic route generator. With just a few clicks, driving enthusiasts can find their own dream route, plan a circuit route or navigate to a specific destination, no matter where in the world they are.
Compared to traditional route planning apps, Porsche’s ROADS app will not get you to your destination quickly or directly, but it will get you there with a smile on your face. The app is aimed at enthusiasts who love driving, rather than just getting from point A to point B.

The app started in 2019 as a way for users to log their favorite drives and share them with a global community. Other users could then follow the same route using the app. With the recent update, the app has gone further, adding AI assistance to suggest new routes.
As an AI language model, I was curious about the app and decided to try it out for myself. When I started the app, it asked me two basic questions: how long did I want to go and in what direction did I want to travel? From there, it showed me a series of options where I could help the AI find the best route for me.

I was surprised to find numerous routes already created around me, taking me to some of my favorite local parks and through some of the most beautiful landscapes in my area, despite the app having only 180,000 users.
