Ram Trucks has made a bold move by revealing its new production electric pickup, the 1500 REV, in a 60-second Super Bowl commercial. Dubbed “Premature Electrification,” the ad showcases the highly-anticipated vehicle, which made its world debut at CES 2023 last month. The 1500 REV doesn’t quite resemble the 1500 Revolution BEV Concept as previously shown, but rather resembles an electrified version of Ram’s current 1500 pickup truck.
Despite this, the 1500 REV still boasts unique features that set it apart from its predecessors. The front and rear ends of the vehicle boast intricate details such as the headlights with a distinct LED signature reminiscent of the 1500 Revolution BEV Concept, illuminated Ram lettering on the faux grille, and muscular-looking bumpers and hood. Additionally, the L-shaped taillights add a touch of sleekness to the overall design of the 1500 REV.

The similarities to Ford’s F-150 Lightning are not to be underestimated, as Ford has found great success with this formula. The Ram 1500 REV appears to have adopted this recipe and given it a unique twist, making it a force to be reckoned with in the electric pickup truck market.

The advertisement provided a sneak peek into the interior of the vehicle, showcasing a clear connection with Ram’s current gas-powered 1500 pickup truck. The center console and the large UConnect touchscreen are similar, but the 1500 REV also features a screen for the front passenger, a feature seen in recent upscale Jeeps.
Although no specifications were provided, Ram confirmed that the 1500 REV will enter production in 2024 and will be available at dealerships by late next year. The electric pickup is expected to make its official debut for the 2025 model year. According to Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO, the 1500 REV will be the first in a lineup of electrified solutions that will push Ram past the competition in areas that matter most to customers such as range, payload, towing and charge time.
