CitySprint, a UK-based distribution company and part of the DPD Group, has made an investment in the future of sustainable delivery by acquiring 40 new electric vans from Maxus. These vehicles will be deployed in major cities such as London, Leeds, Bristol, Manchester, Southampton, and Birmingham with the aim of reducing air pollution.
The company’s commitment to a greener future is evident in their growing electric vehicle fleet, now consisting of 43 electric vans, 24 cargo bikes, 6 electric motorbikes, and 4 electric bicycles. CitySprint has stated their intention to continue exploring ways to expand this fleet and reduce their carbon footprint.
“At CitySprint, we have always acknowledged that, due to the nature of our work, we — and the logistics industry as a whole — have an important role to play in lowering emissions,” said Mark Footman, Chief Operating Officer at CitySprint, adding: “For us, doing the right thing for the environment, the communities in which we work and for the people who live, work and play in these communities is vital. That’s why we are constantly looking for ways to further strengthen our existing green fleet across the UK.” He also reiterated the goal “of having a fleet of over 200 green vehicles across the major cities we work in the next 2 years”.

DPD, a leading package delivery service, has made substantial progress in reducing its carbon footprint through electrification of its fleet. The company has consistently exceeded its electrification targets, as evidenced by its increased targets set in the previous year.
The journey towards a more sustainable fleet began in 2018 with the introduction of Fuso eCanter trucks. In 2019, DPD UK collaborated with Rolec to establish a comprehensive charging network. Since then, the company has introduced electric vehicles from multiple manufacturers such as Nissan, Mercedes, Ford, and Designwerk, across its various subsidiary companies. These efforts demonstrate DPD’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact and promoting sustainable transportation.
