Fisker, the electric car startup, has stated that it will not be following in the footsteps of Tesla by making drastic price cuts. The company is currently in the process of finalizing the electric Ocean SUV and expects to have it homologated by the end of February. The first variant to be released will be the Fisker Ocean One, with a starting price of $68,889.
Despite the significant price difference between the Ocean One and Tesla’s entry-level Model Y, which starts at $53,490, Fisker CEO Henrik Fisker has declared that there is no need to lower the price of the Ocean. While Tesla’s recent price cuts have made the Model Y more accessible, Fisker remains committed to its current pricing strategy.

“I don’t think we need to do it because we have sold out until pretty much mid ‘24,” Henrik Fisker said. He added that “everyone sees cancellations, but at this point we have not seen an overall reduction in our reservations.”
The Fisker Ocean electric vehicle is set to become more accessible to a wider range of consumers as the range expands to include the entry-level Ocean Sport model. This latest addition to the Fisker lineup is slated to arrive in the United States in late 2023 and will be priced starting at $37,499.
Before the implementation of the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, the Ocean Sport would have been eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit. However, Fisker has found a way to enable its reservation holders to take advantage of this credit by offering them the option to enter into a binding contract to purchase. This contract transforms their deposits into a non-refundable order, allowing them to maintain eligibility for the tax credit even under the IRA.
