Rivian Celebrates Milestone of 25,000 Units of Electric Vehicle Production

In 2022, Rivian marked its first full year of production and achieved remarkable results. As per a video shared by the company’s VP of Manufacturing Tim Fallon, Rivian produced 25,051 electric vehicles, with 24,337 being “factory gated” and 20,332 delivered to customers.

The company’s manufacturing plant in Normal, Illinois runs two shifts and has already reached a daily production record of 200 vehicles. If this rate were to be maintained throughout the year, Rivian’s annual production would exceed 70,000 vehicles.

In 2023, the company plans to add a night shift to further increase production of its electric vehicles including the Rivian R1T pickup, Rivian R1S SUV, and Rivian EDV vans.

“We continue to see enormous growth and progress in every area of our business, and this is the direct result of our team’s incredible efforts every single day.

We recently added a second shift at our plant, which means we can build vehicles around the clock and continue to ramp production.”

Rivian’s focus is on continuously improving and modifying all models, stemming from initial production experience and addressing supply chain limitations. This is typical for a new startup, which must optimize processes and designs to achieve better cost-effectiveness.

Exciting developments lie ahead, including powertrain and battery updates, making this year a noteworthy one for Rivian.

As production increases, the backlog of orders (which currently surpasses 100,000 for the R1T/R1S models) will be reduced and bring the company closer to financial stability, which is crucial for its long-term viability.
