Zenobē officially opened its new Innovation Centre in Portsmouth with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Rt Hon. Penny Mordaunt MP. The facility will serve as a hub for breaking down barriers to fleet electrification, allowing fleet operators to transition smoothly to EVs.
The Centre, located in the Railway Triangle Industrial Estate, will test a range of EV charging solutions to determine the most cost-effective and optimal options for fleet operators. It will also spur innovation in the electric transport sector by simulating the complexities of depot charging, with the ability to charge multiple EVs and buses at once, connected to a 100kW battery storage unit, the Powerskid.
Zenobē has integrated its award-winning fleet charging software into the testing process, considering real-world challenges such as grid limitations and battery degradation. The Innovation Centre will also trial different charger and EV models to provide valuable insights into the charger-vehicle relationship.
The testing and research conducted at the Centre will help Zenobē expand its fleet electrification capabilities and knowledge base, allowing the company to better assist fleet operators in making informed decisions when tendering for EVs, chargers, and supporting infrastructure.
“The Innovation Centre will enhance our service offering by continuously testing components and equipment, as well as enabling us to commission and integrate equipment before it arrives on site,” said Steven Meersman, Founder Director at Zenobē.
Penny Mordaunt MP welcomed the new facility as a boost to Portsmouth’s growing expertise in clean energy technologies and a step towards the UK’s net zero goals. Fleet operators interested in electrifying their fleets are invited to visit the Centre and learn about the benefits of smart charging technology. They can also meet with Zenobē’s fleet experts to discuss their first steps towards fleet electrification and achieving clean air and zero carbon targets.
