Valladolid, Spain Adopts Sustainable Public Transport with 11 New Irizar E-buses

Valladolid, Spain is transitioning to more sustainable public transportation with the arrival of 11 18-meter Irizar e-mobility ie tram. These electric buses, purchased at a cost of around 12 million euros, will serve the Barrio España-Covaresa line and symbolize local operator Auvasa’s commitment to modernize and rejuvenate its fleet. Seven of the 11 buses have already arrived and bring the average age of Auvasa’s fleet down to 9.2 years old.

The Irizar e-buses are equipped with state-of-the-art battery technology and dual charging systems for overnight charging in storage. With a capacity of 105 passengers, including two wheelchair areas, and four doors for smooth access, these buses aim to improve the line’s speed and efficiency.

The vehicles also feature CO2 meters, multimedia systems with 29-inch screens and USB ports, CCTV, and advanced driver assistance systems for improved safety and comfort.

In addition to the cost of the buses, 400,000 euros have been invested in charging stations and 591,750 euros have been allocated for upgrading Auvasa’s depots. The new electric buses are expected to enter service soon and demonstrate Valladolid’s commitment to sustainable public transportation
