One of them is a group of football fans from Wales who are willing to drive 8,000 km to Qatar to watch the 2022 World Cup live in an electric car.

As reported by autoevolution.com, in this very long journey, the group of supporters who participated were none other than former Cardiff City club players. They are Scoot Young, Nicky Smith, Huw Talfryn Watters, and Walter Pennell. On this trip, they will use the Long Range Variant MG4 EV, which is designed for long-distance travel.

They have to go through around 19 countries across the European continent, to the Middle East before they can finally reach the host country for the 2022 World Cup, namely Qatar. The countries they will visit include France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia and Greece.

Not only land trips, they also passed sea trips. Via Athens, Greece to Israel, then on through Jordan and Saudi Arabia before arriving in Qatar. In total they spent 21 days traveling with the MG4 EV.

The next challenge is looking for a Charging Station. As reported by the BBC, Scott Yoing said this was their toughest hurdle in finding an electric charging station. Because the path that is passed is so difficult that it doesn’t even exist at all.

In addition, Young mentioned that there were difficulties when moving to West Macedonia to use the Ferry to Saudi Arabia.

The MG4 EV SE Long Range variant is the highest variant they used for this trip. There are also 2 other variants, Standard SE and Trophy.

For the Long Range SE variant, the maximum distance is 452 km, followed by the Trophy variant with 434 km, while the Standard SE variant can only reach 350 km when the battery is full.

This car has several advantages. For example, the use of a battery with a capacity of 64 kWh of the Lithium-Ion type, which apart from having the distance it can also be charged.
