The Toyota bZ4X and its cousin the Subaru Solterra receive a 5-star maximum safety rating from Euro NCAP.
In the latest safety test, only the Toyota bZ4X was tested. Given that the two are “identical in safety equipment”, the test results also apply to the Subaru Solterra.
From the tests carried out the protection of Adult Occupants and the protection of Child Occupants was 88% and 87%, respectively. Vulnerable Road User Protection reaches 79%, while the Safety Assist score is 91%.
The test results on the Toyota bZ4X are quite consistent, good results, very comparable to the scores of the Nissan Ariya, which is the main competitor of the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. Nissan Ariya recorded 86% protection for Adult Occupants, 89% protection for Child Occupants, 74% protection for Vulnerable Road Users and 93% for Safety Assist.
Meanwhile, the Tesla Model Y scores even higher, including 97% Adult Occupant protection and 98% Safety Assistance.
The pair of twin brothers, the Toyota bZ4X and the Subaru Solterra, have finally entered the European and North American markets, after a recall was made regarding the safety of the wheel hub bolts. The Japanese manufacturer was forced to halt production for several months because of the recall.
Time will tell what sales volumes the Japanese manufacturer can achieve now and how well the duo will be received in the market.
