The XPeng Aeroht X2 has passed a special operational risk assessment in Dubai by the Joint Authority for Rules-making on Special Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) of Unmanned Systems (JARUS).
With this graduation Aeroht X2 was granted permission to make its first public flight there, said the flying car division of XPeng Motors.
The XPeng Aeroht X2 will conduct the first overseas public flight demonstration in Dubai and it marks a global step for the XPeng Aeroht.
The flight demonstration will be held at the 42nd GITEX GLOBAL event in Dubai featuring more than 4,000 companies and more than 100,000 participants from 170 countries.
The X2 is the fifth generation smart electric flying vehicle from XPeng Aeroht that can carry two people and successfully made its maiden flight in China in June 2021.
X2 was first launched on 16 July. “This marks another step closer to a more widely available and safe flying car.” XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng said at launch
The X2 is a pure electric flying car with a two-seat enclosed cockpit that has the capabilities of autonomous flight path planning, ground monitoring, return landing and 100 kilometers two-way real-time communication.
It comes with an unloaded weight of 560 kg and a maximum take-off weight of 760 kg. The X2 has a maximum cruising speed of 130 kilometers per hour and a range of 35 minutes.
In March, XPeng Aeroht delivered the flying car to the Netherlands, marking the X2’s European debut. The company did not have a flying demonstration in Europe at that time.
