Electric car startup from China, Small Sports Car (SSC) was recently rumored to be launching a sports car that is said to be China’s “national sports car” called the SSC SC01 .
SSC says the SC-01 will debut in 2023 with some pretty impressive specs. The SC01 itself measures 4,085 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width and 1,162 mm in height, which makes it roughly the same size as the Alpine A110 or Audi TT.
More impressively, it only weighs 1,300 kg. This weight can be said to be lighter than most electric cars today, such as the Tesla Model 3 which weighs between 1,612 to 1,831 kg, or the Audi TT which weighs 1,540 kg.
From a mechanical point of view, the SC01 will be equipped with two electric motors at the front and rear that can generate power up to 429 hp. Thanks to its light weight and considerable power, the SC-01 is claimed to be able to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 3.9 seconds.
The combination of light weight, compact size and considerable power usually results in less battery mileage, but SSC claims that the SC01 can run up to 500 km per charge on a NEDC cycle.
The SC01 is said to be in production in the fourth quarter of 2023, and its price is estimated at RMB300,000. Unfortunately, it is unclear whether SSC will offer the car outside of China.
