Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce the G-Wagen electric car in mid-2024. This was stated by Mercedes-Benz boss, Ola Källenius, in a report by The Verge.

Furthermore, Källenius also said he drove a prototype version of the electric SUV at the company’s testing facility in Graz, Austria, and believes that the future of off-road adventure is through electric cars.

When Mercedes-Benz first unveiled the concept version of the electric SUV in September 2021, the company did not confirm any production plans. In fact, Källenius himself said in 2019 that he wasn’t sure if the G-Wagen would have much of a chance in the future.

However, this is still early days, and very little detail has been shared by the company. Mercedes-Benz has not disclosed any estimates for the range, battery size or power consumption of the car. In the initial concept, this car has all-wheel drive (4×4), which is considered reasonable from the shape to the trend in the market.

In 2021, the G-Wagen EV is considered to be Mercedes-Benz’s first attempt to modify the new generation G-Class which was first revealed at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.

The EQG concept is covered in the same two-tone paint that Mercedes-Benz used on the first edition of the electric EQS sedan. The vehicle also sports a luminous grille that the company has toyed with on several other concept and production vehicles.

When the production EQG arrives in mid-2024, it will join the lineup of electric vehicles that can handle tough terrain, such as the GMC Hummer EV, Rivian R1T and R1S trucks and SUVs, the Chevy Silverado EV, and the Ford F-150 Lightning.
