The news about Tesla seems endless, this time Mario Zelaya, owner of the 2013 Tesla Model S said he was locked out of his vehicle after the battery died due to a suspected design flaw. He couldn’t even get into the car to access an ownership document.
Zelaya said in a TikTok video that he had to pay around US$105,472 when he bought the car.
Now, however, he claims that a design flaw in the 2013-2014 Model S resulted in the HVAC condenser dripping onto the battery which eventually caused rust and eventually damaged the battery.
Tesla refused to pay for the new battery because the problem was discovered after the vehicle’s warranty expired. Zelaya, however, claims that the problem must have started while the vehicle was still under warranty, and that he has contacted Transport Canada, which is now investigating the matter.

“They’re not just investigating this car, because I’ve contacted other owners who had the exact same problem. The battery is dead but Tesla won’t give users an explanation as to why the battery is dead.” Zelaya said
Consumers experiencing the same problem are encouraged to contact Transport Canada’s regulator via its website, where they can fill out a vehicle defect complaint form.
Zelaya claims that he will sell his Tesla S for around US$15,067. It’s unclear what the new owners will do with the car, but the new battery pack is expected to cost around US$19,588.
