Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast hopes to sell one million electric cars globally in the next five or six years. This was emphasized by the CEO of VinFast, Le Thi Thu Thuy, during a conversation with Asia Nikei.

In fact, earlier this year VinFast announced to build a dedicated electric vehicle factory in the United States. Total investment alone reached US $ 2 billion.

The electric car assembly facility itself will be located at Triangle Innovation Point, in Chatham Country, United States.

It is planned that construction will be carried out in the second half of 2022, and production is expected to start in July 2024.

VinFast’s electric vehicle factory, which will be built on an area of ā€‹ā€‹2,000 hectares, will feature two main areas, namely for the production of electric cars and buses. Then, the second, for production supply facilities.

As a first step, at the beginning of the production they will still receive supplies from their suppliers.

However, in the future they will start to produce everything independently.

In December 2021, Vingroup said it had started construction of a battery cell factory in Vietnam so that VinFast could own its battery supply chain.

According to its target, the company wants to produce 100,000 battery packs per year with an investment of USD 174 million.

Through the construction of the factory in the United States, VinFast also wants to make a commitment that although it is relatively new in the automotive scene, they have a commitment to stop the production of conventional engine cars by the end of 2022.
