In July 2021, Iveco launched a project called “Plant The Future” which underscores its commitment to being an active contributor to a sustainable future.

In that commitment, the Italian commercial vehicle manufacturer offers a variety of low CO2 emission vehicles, including one of its innovative products, Iveco S-Way which provides a solution for decarbonization using Biomethane as a power source.

This project has been successfully implemented in various European regions such as Italy, Poland, and Germany. In just one year, with the Iveco S-way Gas truck being sold along with the planting of more than 3 million trees it has the potential to save CO2 by more than 45,000 tons per year.

Giandomenico Fioretti as Iveco’s Head of Alternative Drive Business Development stated that Iveco is now planning to expand the “Plant The Future” project to other European countries to create a virtuous circle that will continue into the future.

“If all these trees are planted with a distance of 7 meters in a row, they will form a line that runs from the South Pole to the North Pole,” he explained quoting his official website, Friday (5/8/2022).

“If you imagine this, you have an immediate idea of how much difference we can make by spreading the use of natural gas especially bio-CNG/LNG in the transportation industry. Our zero carbon goal is really within our reach!” he continued.

As a driving force in the energy transition of the transportation industry, Iveco is very active in raising awareness of the key role that natural gas and biomethane technologies must play in the sector’s path to zero-carbon.

Based on the results of a study by the Italian National Research Council (Cnr), Iveco S-Way CNG/LNG trucks powered by biomethane have been able to produce a 95% CO2 reduction and 121% reduction in negative emissions with certain raw materials.

Iveco is directly contributing to the decarbonization path of the sector by offering customers vehicles capable of reducing their operating carbon footprint without compromising on performance and mission scope compared to conventional diesel engines.

To take sustainability to the next level, Iveco is investing in targeted initiatives such as the Iveco Ambassador program which gives a voice to customers and partners who share their vision of social and environmental sustainability.

“By sharing the positive impact on CO2 emission reductions that we have achieved through the ‘Plant The Future’ initiative, we aim to strengthen our commitment to sustainability, recognizing the greatness of natural gas and biomethane technologies in transport decarbonization,” said Fioretti.

According to him, Iveco is a pioneer in natural gas technology with more than 20 years of experience to decarbonize logistics operations. “Our Iveco S-Way CNG/LNG, when powered by biomethane, is a no-compromise solution compared to diesel,” he said.

“Iveco aims to be the most reliable partner, enabling our customers to run their operations efficiently and their business profitably with our smart and sustainable mobility solutions,” concluded Giandomenico Fioretti.
