The Triumph TE-1 prototype is Triumph’s first electric motorcycle and is claimed to be a very fast motorcycle. The TE-1 can go up to 100 km/h from rest in less than 4 seconds. This is a leading performance in its category.
Triumph has a track record of several motorcycles with fairly fast internal combustion engines but has only just entered the electric two-wheeler market. The company has completed the fourth and final stage of testing the performance of the motorcycle.
Based on the TE-1’s performance data, this electric motorcycle will probably come to the market with good reception. Reporting from Gizmochina (14/7), this electric vehicle performs well in several categories and will adapt to the current model.
But this motorcycle is inspired by the Triumph Street Triple. This product has a short and agile design with twin-pod headlights. The final body panels of the motorcycle have been updated with a new paint scheme. Triumph says the TE-1 image is the same as the original, having passed the 4th stage of testing.
The all-aluminum chassis covers the motorcycle resulting in an overall weight of 220 kg. It has a higher power-to-weight ratio due to its chassis design, which is taller than the current model. This electric motorbike can also be charged quickly from 0 to 100% in just 25 minutes. There is no model on the market today with such incredible charging speeds. The prototype remains a project under development, and Triumph has yet to provide a release date for this electric motorcycle model.
The Triumph TE-1 is equipped with an electric motor with a power output of 130 kW or the equivalent of 175 hp. However, the 175 hp power is just a calculation, not yet tested on a dyno.
Triumph claims this electric motor can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. For comparison, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire 0-100 km / h is almost 3 seconds but the output power is only 78 kW. So the truth about the power output of the Triumph TE-1 is not clear.
In addition, the Triumph TE-1 is also claimed to have a mileage of 160 km for a single charge. However, it is not clear whether the mileage is meant for traveling within the city or for touring outside the city.
Even so, this Triumph electric motor is equipped with a DC fast charging system. The claim is that the battery capacity of 0-80% can be in 20 minutes. The regenerative braking system also increases battery power when braking.
