Canoo electric transporters introduced for NASA next mission to the moon

Canoo has officially released photos of the car developed for NASA. This vehicle will be used by the NASA team for Project Artemis.

Previously, the electric vehicle startup won a contract to supply vehicles to NASA. Meanwhile, Project Artemis is a program that aims to send astronauts to the moon by 2025.

Meanwhile, NASA has requested an emission-free vehicle for Project Artemis and requested the vehicle be able to carry four astronauts, three additional crew, and a driver. The vehicle also needs space for five gear bags, four cooling units, and a bearing transfer bag.

Canoo will provide a modified version of the Lifestyle Vehicle. It is expected to be the company’s first production model and is being developed for both consumer and commercial use. Reportedly, consumers can receive deliveries before the end of the year or as early as 2023. Canoo also has to ship all necessary NASA crew-carrying vehicles by June 2023.

After getting an official contract from NASA, Canoo is reportedly still experiencing financial difficulties. Where, in May the company admitted in its earnings report that it was running out of funds. They recorded a loss of up to $125 million in the first three months of this year. In fact, Canoo admits that he still has doubts about being able to survive.

As a solution, Canoo intends to sell Lifestyle Vehicles in Base, Premium, Adventure, and Delivery modes with prices starting from 34,750 USD. This vehicle is equipped with an electric motor which is claimed to be capable of producing 300 hp and 450 Nm of torque.
