Chinese automaker GAC is making its debut at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover through its commercial vehicle subsidiary, GAC Commercial Vehicle. The company is presenting the T9 electric truck, autonomous driving and battery-swapping technologies, as well as its new Montx light commercial vehicle brand.
T9 Electric Truck Takes Centre Stage
Under the theme “Delivering the Future Together,” GAC Commercial Vehicle is displaying its light and heavy commercial vehicle technologies in Pavilion 35 of the outdoor exhibition area. The company is also presenting solutions developed with partners including Pony.ai and Aulton for Level 4 autonomous driving and battery swapping.
The T9 is a 6×4 electric tractor unit and is being shown in two configurations at the event. The T9 Robotruck combines Pony.ai’s fourth-generation autonomous driving technology with GAC’s fully redundant drive-by-wire chassis.
Its sensor package comprises nine LiDAR sensors, three radar sensors and 13 cameras. GAC said hardware costs have been reduced by 70% compared with the previous generation, while transport costs per tonne-kilometre during autonomous operation are reduced by around 30%.
The company said the configuration is intended for applications including long-haul transportation, fixed-route operations and port logistics.

Battery-Swapping T9
The second T9 configuration is the T9 Battery Swap EV, an electric tractor equipped with a 603-kWh battery. GAC lists a range of up to 475 km for the model.
The truck uses Aulton’s battery-swapping system, which allows the complete battery pack to be replaced in three to five minutes. The company is positioning the technology for applications where reducing vehicle downtime is important, including long-haul and fixed-route transportation.
GAC Commercial Vehicle Expands Internationally
GAC Commercial Vehicle was established following GAC’s acquisition of its former joint venture with Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer Hino. The company said its domestic operations provide a foundation for its international expansion.
According to GAC Commercial Vehicle, sales increased by 205% in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier. For international distribution, the company plans to use the broader GAC Group network, which covers 110 countries and regions.
The company said its international strategy extends beyond exporting vehicles to developing a broader network of partners and using resources across the GAC Group to enter additional markets.
Montx Adds Light Commercial Vehicles
GAC Commercial Vehicle is also using IAA Transportation to introduce Montx, a new sub-brand focused on light commercial vehicles.
The company is displaying the P10 and V10 concept vehicles, which are based on GAC’s All-Domain Adaptive Architecture e (ADAA). The architecture is designed to accommodate different powertrains and vehicle configurations for different markets.
GAC said the Montx launch includes the Montx Makers co-creation programme, through which users can provide input during the development process.
The company is also displaying the production version of the Smilodon Pro pickup. The model is already available in Central and South America and the Middle East, with GAC planning to expand its availability to around 30 countries by the end of 2026.
