Chinese electric two-wheeler manufacturer Yadea has formed a strategic partnership with African electric mobility company Spiro to expand electric motorcycles and scooters across African markets, combining Yadea’s manufacturing capacity with Spiro’s battery-swapping infrastructure.
Under the agreement, Yadea will supply electric two-wheelers and other electric vehicle products for Spiro’s markets. The vehicles will be integrated into Spiro’s existing battery-swapping and energy network, while the companies also plan to jointly develop models tailored to local African requirements.
Spiro Operates 130,000 Electric Motorcycles
Spiro says it currently operates more than 130,000 electric motorcycles across seven African countries. Its network includes more than 2,500 battery-swapping stations.

According to the company, riders using its electric motorcycles have completed more than 50 million battery swaps and travelled more than two billion kilometres.
The partnership with Yadea is intended to build on that existing infrastructure by adding a larger supply of electric two-wheelers and expanding access to battery-swapping services.
Vehicles To Be Adapted For African Use
The companies plan to develop electric motorcycles and scooters specifically for African markets rather than relying exclusively on existing models.
The development work is expected to account for local road conditions and the intensive commercial use associated with motorcycle taxi services, delivery operations and other high-mileage applications.
Yadea brings large-scale manufacturing experience to the partnership. The company says it has sold more than 100 million electric two-wheelers globally.

The agreement allows Spiro to combine that production capacity with its established operating experience and energy infrastructure across African markets.

Partnership Targets Faster Electrification
Spiro CEO Anant Badjatya said the agreement is intended to help the company respond to growing demand for electric mobility while increasing the scale of its operations.

Yadea Technology Group Senior Vice President Wang Jiazhong said the partnership combines the manufacturer’s technology and production capabilities with Spiro’s local infrastructure.
