Huawei-backed luxury automotive brand Maextro has officially launched the V680 and V800 extended-range multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs), expanding its premium vehicle portfolio as it targets China’s executive mobility market traditionally dominated by imported Japanese luxury models.
The two MPVs, jointly developed by Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Corp (JAC), entered the market on Wednesday after pre-sales began in late June.
Pricing Comes in Below Pre-Sale Levels
The Maextro V680 is offered in a single Premium Edition priced at 648,000 yuan ($95,450).
The flagship V800 is available in three variants, with the Premium Edition priced at 766,000 yuan, the Executive Edition at 866,000 yuan, and the range-topping Flagship Edition at 1.016 million yuan.
The final launch prices are lower than the pre-sale pricing announced in June, when the V680 carried a price range of 650,000 yuan to 900,000 yuan, while the V800 was listed between 800,000 yuan and 1.2 million yuan.
Early Orders Signal Strong Market Interest
Initial market response has been encouraging.
Huawei Executive Director Richard Yu said in July that the two MPVs received more than 10,000 pre-orders within 23 days of opening reservations, with the higher-end V800 accounting for around 80% of total orders.
Following the official launch, Yu said on Weibo that the lineup secured 2,115 firm orders within the first hour.
Deliveries will begin in stages, with V800 Pioneer Edition models scheduled to reach customers in early September. Remaining V800 variants and the V680 will begin deliveries later that month.
Extended-Range Powertrain and Long Driving Range
Both MPVs feature seven-seat configurations and use a 1.5-litre turbocharged gasoline engine as a range extender.
The front electric motor produces 160kW, while the rear motor delivers 230kW, providing all-wheel-drive capability.
Energy is supplied by Huawei’s next-generation 65kWh Giant Whale battery pack, which supports 6C ultra-fast charging.
Both models offer a 340-kilometre CLTC battery-only driving range.
With a fully charged battery and full fuel tank, the V800 delivers a combined driving range of 1,335 kilometres, while the V680 offers a total range of 1,208 kilometres.
Advanced Intelligent Driving Technology
The V680 and V800 both come equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving system as standard.
The system integrates 40 sensors, including a three-dimensional array consisting of six LiDAR units, supporting advanced assisted-driving capabilities.
The V800 is built on a vehicle architecture designed for future Level 3 autonomous driving, incorporating redundant sensors, computing chips and power supply systems to improve operational safety.
Both vehicles are based on Maextro’s dedicated Tuling Longxing platform and feature an 800-volt fully active suspension system alongside steer-by-wire technology.
The V800 also includes 12-degree rear-wheel steering, reducing its turning radius to 5.4 metres, as well as a crab-walking function for enhanced maneuverability in confined spaces.
Executive-Focused Luxury Cabin
The flagship V800 is equipped with two AI-powered executive seats in the second row featuring 20-point massage functions, a 41.6-inch projection display, and a retractable starlight headliner designed for premium passenger comfort.
The V680 offers two second-row zero-gravity seats and a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted entertainment display.
Maextro positions the V800 for premium executive transport, targeting customers including luxury hotels, airlines, corporate fleets and high-profile clients. The model competes directly with premium imported MPVs such as the Toyota Alphard and Lexus LM.
The V680 enters a more competitive segment, where it faces rivals including the Li Auto Li Mega and Zeekr 009.
Expanding the Maextro Portfolio
The launch marks Maextro’s expansion beyond its flagship S800 sedan, which was previously the brand’s only production model.
As the highest-positioned marque within Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), Maextro continues to strengthen its presence in China’s premium new energy vehicle market by combining Huawei’s intelligent driving technologies with JAC’s vehicle manufacturing capabilities.
