BYD has revealed the first official images of the Qin Max, a new sedan that will become the flagship model in the company’s Qin lineup and expand its Dynasty series portfolio.
The new B-segment sedan is positioned above the Qin L and is aimed at younger consumers, according to Lu Tian, head of sales for BYD’s Dynasty lineup, who announced the model on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.
New Flagship for Qin Family
Lu described the Qin Max as the “extra-large” member of the Qin family and said it incorporates the flash charging capability that many customers have requested.
“The extra-large version of the Qin family and the flash charging-capable Qin that many internet users have been calling for.”
BYD has not announced a launch date or pricing for the new model.
The Qin Max supports BYD’s latest flash charging technology. The company introduced its Super e-Platform in 2025, enabling charging power of up to 1,000 kilowatts. Earlier this year, BYD unveiled a second-generation flash charging system capable of delivering up to 1,500 kilowatts using a single charging connector, allowing compatible vehicles equipped with the latest Blade Battery to recharge from 10% to 97% in approximately nine minutes.
Available in Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Versions
Previous regulatory filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology indicate the Qin Max will be offered in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants, although BYD has not yet confirmed the available powertrain options.
According to filing documents, the sedan measures 4,866 millimeters in length, 1,880 millimeters in width and 1,495 millimeters in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 millimeters, making it slightly larger than the Qin L.
The battery-electric version is expected to be available with electric motors producing either 240 kilowatts (322 horsepower) or 120 kilowatts of peak output.
The plug-in hybrid model is expected to combine a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine rated at 74 kilowatts with a 175-kilowatt electric motor.
Regulatory filings also suggest the electric version may carry either “Da Qin” or “Qin Ultra” badging on the rear of the vehicle.
The Qin family currently consists of the Qin Plus and Qin L, both available in battery-electric and plug-in hybrid variants. The introduction of the Qin Max will expand the lineup to three models.
