Shangjie, the automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and SAIC Motor, has launched an updated version of its H5 sport utility vehicle in China, retaining its original starting price of 159,800 yuan ($23,510) while introducing a range of technology and comfort upgrades.
The launch marks the most significant update to the model since the H5 debuted in September 2025 as the first vehicle under the Shangjie brand.
The new starting price is 10,000 yuan lower than the vehicle’s pre-sale price announced earlier this year.
Multiple Powertrain Options Remain Available
The updated H5 continues to offer customers a choice between extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery-electric vehicle (BEV) variants.
The extended-range lineup starts with the Pro version at 159,800 yuan, while the higher-specification Max+ trim is priced from 179,800 yuan.
The battery-electric range consists of four variants. The Pro model starts at 165,800 yuan, followed by the Pro Long Range at 179,800 yuan, the Max+ at 185,800 yuan, and the Max+ Long Range at 199,800 yuan.
Huawei Driver-Assistance System Added
A major focus of the update is enhanced intelligent driving technology.
Higher-end versions of the H5 are equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 4.1 driver-assistance platform, which includes a 192-channel LiDAR sensor.
The system supports features such as end-to-end navigation-assisted driving and driver incapacitation assistance functions.
The move reflects growing competition among Chinese automakers and technology companies to integrate increasingly advanced driver-assistance capabilities into mass-market vehicles.
Range and Battery Specifications
Shangjie said the extended-range version can travel up to 1,360 kilometres under Chinese testing standards when combining a full battery charge with a full fuel tank.
The battery-electric variant uses an 80-kWh battery pack and offers a maximum CLTC-rated driving range of up to 655 kilometres.
Interior Technology and Comfort Upgrades
The updated H5 also introduces several new comfort features.
Among the additions are front-seat massage functions, a near-zero-gravity reclining mode for the front passenger seat, and heated and ventilated rear seats.
The SUV now includes a 15.6-inch movable central display that supports four-way adjustment.
Ambient lighting has been expanded to 10 zones with 256 colour options available as standard across the range.
The model also adds a windshield head-up display featuring steering-assistance visualization.
Promotional Campaign and Faster Deliveries
To support the launch, Shangjie is offering a limited-time sales promotion for customers placing orders before August 4.
According to the company, buyers may receive benefits valued at up to 58,583 yuan.
Shangjie has also pre-produced vehicles in several high-demand configurations, enabling deliveries to begin within one to two weeks for selected variants.
Expanding Product Portfolio
The H5 is the first model launched under Shangjie, which became the fifth automotive brand within Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) ecosystem.
The vehicle competes in a crowded segment that includes models such as BYD’s Song series and Xpeng’s G6.
The brand is also expanding beyond SUVs. Earlier this year, Shangjie opened pre-sales for the Z7 coupe and Z7T shooting brake, with the Z7 positioned to compete with Xiaomi’s SU7 in China’s growing electric sedan market.
As competition intensifies across China’s new energy vehicle sector, manufacturers are increasingly focusing on intelligent driving features and connected technologies as key differentiators alongside vehicle range and pricing.
