Electric carmaker Lucid Group plans to launch a luxury sedan in Europe later this year. This is because their competitor, Tesla, is also looking to expand its footprint beyond the United States amid strong global demand for electric vehicles (EVs).
According to a release appearing Tuesday, May 10, Lucid will launch a limited number of Lucid Air Dream Edition P and R sedans to customers in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Norway by the end of 2022.
Lucid added that it will cost the Air Dream Edition P/R around 218,000 euros in Germany.
Last week, Lucid said it would raise prices for most of its models, starting in June as it relates to rising raw material costs. But they said they would honor the current booking as a move to avoid the backlash facing rivals.
Lucid said Tuesday it also plans to open its first European retail location in Munich on May 13. They added that it aims to open additional studio and service center locations in Europe this year.
The California-based EV company, which makes its vehicles at its Arizona plant, last week reiterated its outlook for 2022 production volumes of 12,000 to 14,000 vehicles.
