Vietnamese electric mobility company Green SM said it plans to deploy up to 18,497 electric vehicles from VinFast across the Philippines through partnerships with local transport operators and cooperatives.
The initiative, announced through agreements with 75 transport companies and cooperatives, could become the largest bulk order for VinFast electric vehicles in the Philippine market.
Green SM said the local partners operate in Metro Manila as well as several cities and provinces including Bacolod, Baguio, Batangas, Cagayan de Oro, Cavite, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Ozamiz and Pampanga.
The company said demand for cleaner transportation and mobility services has been increasing across these markets.
Under the agreements, Green SM will supply VinFast EVs through a combination of direct investment and long-term leasing arrangements. The deployment will include the VF 5, Herio Green and Limo Green models.
The VF 5 and Herio Green are compact sport utility vehicles built on the same platform for private and commercial use. The models are powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 100 kilowatts and 135 Newton metres of torque.
They use a 37.23-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, offering a driving range of up to 326 kilometres under the NEDC testing standard.
The Limo Green is a larger multi-purpose vehicle designed primarily for commercial transport applications. VinFast later introduced a private-use version under the name VF MPV 7.
The seven-seat electric MPV is equipped with a front-mounted motor delivering 150 kilowatts and 280 Newton metres of torque and uses a 60.13-kWh LFP battery pack with an NEDC-rated range of 450 kilometres.
Green SM said deliveries and operational rollouts will take place gradually throughout the year as local partners place orders and integrate the vehicles into their transport fleets.
Nguyen Van Thanh, chief executive of Green SM, said the company aims to expand electric mobility adoption while maintaining operational consistency across partner networks.
“Through its platform and partnership approach, Green SM aims to advance electric mobility in a practical and sustainable way while maintaining unified service standards across the ecosystem,” Thanh said.
