Kia said more of its electric vehicles now qualify for the UK government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG), including the Kia EV3 and a newly introduced Kia EV4 ‘Motion’ variant, as the company expands its presence in the country’s subsidized EV segment.
The ECG scheme provides a £1,500 reduction on the on-the-road price of eligible electric vehicles and is available to both retail and fleet buyers.
Kia said the EV3 qualifies for the grant for the first time, with both ‘Air’ and ‘GT-Line’ trims included. With the subsidy applied, the EV3 ‘Air’ Standard Range, equipped with a 58.3 kWh battery, is priced from £31,555, while the Long Range version with an 81.4 kWh battery starts at £34,555.
The EV3 becomes the third Kia model eligible under the scheme, joining the EV4 and the Kia PV5 Passenger, which qualified in December 2025. Eligibility is subject to criteria including emissions performance, driving range, sustainability standards, and warranty provisions.
Alongside the update, Kia introduced a new EV4 ‘Motion’ grade, positioned between ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’. The variant also qualifies for the grant and is priced from £38,995 on-the-road. It features an 81.4 kWh battery paired with a 201 bhp front-mounted electric motor.
“Following the successful launch of the Kia EV4 last year, a new Special Edition model is being introduced,” the company said.
The EV4 ‘Motion’ includes features such as an eight-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, heated outer rear seats, a surround-view monitor, and a driver’s seat with lumbar support. The model is offered exclusively as a five-door hatchback and is produced at Kia’s plant in Žilina, Slovakia.
With the additions, Kia now offers three passenger EV models under the ECG scheme: EV3, EV4, and PV5 Passenger. The automaker said further updates on eligibility are expected, including for the recently launched Kia EV2, which is anticipated to qualify for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 support.
