Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, which operates under the Tata.ev brand, has partnered with Shell to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure in India, with plans to establish 21 Mega Charging Hubs across major cities and highway corridors.
The companies said the new hubs will be located in Pune in Maharashtra, Vadodara in Gujarat, and in southern cities including Bengaluru and Mysuru in Karnataka, as well as Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The initiative is aimed at strengthening fast-charging access in urban centers and along key intercity routes.
The charging stations will feature 120 kW fast chargers, enabling customers to charge their vehicles from 10% to 80% state of charge in around 30 minutes, according to the companies.
In Bengaluru, nine new locations have been identified: Avalahalli, Chandapura, Devanahalli, Hennur Road, Kanakapura Road, Mysore Road, Prestige Tech Park, Thanisandra and Yeshwanthpur. These additions will expand Tata.ev’s MegaCharger footprint in the city.
In Chennai, five hubs are planned on 200ft. Link Road and in Ambattur, Chromepet, Maduravoyal and Thaiyur. In Mysuru, a hub will be set up at Hunsur along the Mangalore–Mysuru highway. Vadodara will see a site developed at Jambuva along National Highway 48, while Pune will host five new hubs in Chakan, Pimple Nilakh, Talegaon, Varve and Wagholi.
The new sites will include on-site marshals to assist customers during the charging process and will also feature Shell Select and Deli2go retail outlets. Tata EV customers will be eligible for discounts of up to 25% on charging sessions, along with promotional offers on food and beverages.
With the addition of the 21 hubs, Tata.ev’s network will total 130 Mega Charging Hubs nationwide. The company said it aims to scale up to 500 sites and provide more than 400,000 charging points across India by 2027.
