BYD recalls Tang DM due to battery issue

Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD announced a recall of nearly 10,000 Tang DM cars due to battery problems.

The recall, which began on April 29, covers 9,663 BYD Tang DM vehicles produced between September 2, 2021 and March 14, 2022, the Chinese authority dealing with the matter said.

The towed vehicle had a problem with the vent valve fitting unevenly in the battery power pack tray.

The uneven surface creates the potential for water to enter the base of the battery, creating a hazard in the event of a short circuit.

BYD said it would carry out repairs to component replacement through authorized dealers for cars affected by the damage, according to Xinhua.
