Innoviz Technologies said it has begun general availability of InnovizSMART, an automotive-grade LiDAR sensor designed for smart infrastructure applications, as the company expands beyond vehicle manufacturing into urban and industrial sensing markets.
Innoviz said the off-the-shelf sensor is now ramping to full industrial-scale production, with short lead times and no need for customer-specific customization. The company said it has scaled production capacity to meet both current and anticipated demand from infrastructure operators and system integrators.

InnovizSMART provides a detection range of up to 450 metres and is capable of identifying pedestrians and vehicles at long distances, according to the company. The sensor features uniform resolution across its field of view, enabling consistent tracking in complex environments such as wide intersections and perimeter zones.
A key feature of the system is its Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity, allowing the sensor to be installed on existing poles, traffic lights and other roadside infrastructure using standard Ethernet cabling. Innoviz said this reduces installation complexity and supports rapid deployment without the need for dedicated power infrastructure.

The company said the product is designed for continuous outdoor operation and engineered to withstand harsh environmental conditions, including dust, debris and temperature extremes. Innoviz added that the sensor captures spatial data without collecting personally identifiable information, positioning it as a privacy-conscious option for public-space monitoring.
InnovizSMART is targeted at applications including traffic management, perimeter security, robotics and aerial systems. The company said a more advanced version, InnovizSMARTer, powered by NVIDIA’s Jetson Orin Nano platform, is expected to become available in the second quarter of 2026.

Innoviz operates as a Tier 1 supplier to automotive manufacturers and works with customers across North America, Europe and Asia. The company said the launch of InnovizSMART reflects growing demand for automotive-grade sensing technologies in non-automotive environments, particularly as cities and infrastructure operators seek more accurate and resilient perception systems.
