Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), a unit of Daimler Truck, has introduced its all-electric eCanter light-duty truck to the United Arab Emirates, expanding its electric commercial vehicle lineup in the Middle East.
The launch was held in Dubai in partnership with Al Habtoor Motors, the authorised distributor for FUSO in the UAE. The eCanter is aimed at urban logistics, municipal services and last-mile delivery operations, offering zero local emissions and reduced noise in city environments.
The eCanter is Japan’s first mass-produced electric light-duty truck and is based on FUSO’s established light-truck platform. It is available with multiple battery configurations and flexible body options, allowing fleet operators to tailor vehicles to specific operational requirements. The truck is designed for stop-and-go driving, with a focus on manoeuvrability, lower operating costs and the integration of advanced safety and driver-assistance systems.
Michael Dietz, representing Daimler Truck Middle East Africa, said the launch reflected the group’s broader electrification strategy. “The launch of the new eCanter in the UAE represents an important step in Daimler Truck’s electrification journey in the Middle East,” Dietz said. “As cities and businesses increasingly focus on sustainable mobility, the new eCanter offers a practical, zero-emission solution tailored for urban and last-mile operations.”
The eCanter has already been introduced in several international markets. Its entry into the UAE comes as the country advances clean mobility initiatives and as demand grows for lower-emission solutions in commercial transport.
