Swiss public transport operator PostAuto has signed a framework agreement with Solaris Bus & Coach for the supply of up to 115 battery-electric buses, the companies said, marking another step in the electrification of public transport across Switzerland.
Solaris was selected through competitive tender procedures for both 12-metre and 18-metre vehicles. Under the agreement, PostAuto will place orders for buses to be delivered in 2026 and 2027 to multiple cities across Switzerland. The framework allows orders to be placed until the end of 2026, with deliveries continuing through the end of 2027.
PostAuto has already made an initial commitment for 33 buses, comprising 23 Urbino 12 electric vehicles and 10 articulated Urbino 18 electric models. The buses feature Solaris’s modular electric drive system and are expected to enter service in around a dozen Swiss cities.
Solaris has been active in the Swiss market since 2002 and has delivered nearly 700 buses in the country to date. Of those, close to 250 vehicles have been supplied to PostAuto, the manufacturer said, underlining a long-standing commercial relationship between the two companies.
