Swiss logistics company Galliker has broken ground on a new charging infrastructure project dubbed “E-Park & Ride,” underscoring its continued push to scale up battery-electric freight transport.
The project, launched at Galliker’s logistics site in Dagmersellen near its headquarters in Altishofen, will add 41 charging points for electric trucks and 74 charging points for passenger cars. At the same time, the company inaugurated an overhead charging system known as the E-Power Bridge, designed to supply electricity to heavy-duty vehicles from a gantry structure.

Galliker has been an early mover in electric road freight in Switzerland. The company began deploying battery-electric heavy vehicles in 2021 and has since steadily expanded its fleet. It currently operates more than 90 electric lorries and plans to add nearly 140 more battery-electric vehicles over this year and next, according to the company.
The newly inaugurated E-Power Bridge provides six charging bays for electric trucks. Vehicles drive underneath the gantry, where charging cables are lowered for connection. Galliker said the system is powered by on-site photovoltaic generation, with surplus solar energy stored in a battery energy storage system to allow charging during nighttime operations. The company did not disclose the charging power of the installation.

The larger E-Park & Ride development is intended to significantly increase overnight charging capacity for heavy vehicles. Galliker said each of the 41 high-power truck charging points is expected to serve two vehicles per night, allowing up to 82 electric lorries to be charged daily. The system will be supported by three transformers with a combined capacity of 6 megawatts.
To offset the reduction in surface car parking caused by the project, Galliker plans to build an underground car park with 300 spaces. Of these, 74 will be equipped with EV charge points for employees and company vehicles.
The investments form part of Galliker’s broader “Zero Emissions Network” initiative, announced in May 2025. Under the programme, the company aims to operate 650 electric lorries within the next decade and to have the required energy and charging infrastructure in place by 2030.

“With E-Park & Ride and the E-Power Bridge, we are creating infrastructure that sustainably supports our company’s transformation into a low-emission transport service provider,” said Peter Galliker, chief executive of the family-owned group. “With the Zero Emissions Network, we are investing in a future where our logistics are climate-friendly and responsible.”
Galliker’s electric fleet expansion has been supported in part by collaborations with vehicle manufacturers such as Designwerk and its Futuricum brand, which have supplied battery-electric trucks and car transporters used in the company’s operations.
