BMW Group India plans to launch three new battery-electric vehicle models this year as part of a broader product expansion and retail push, building on strong sales momentum and rising demand for luxury electric cars in the country.
The company, which operates the BMW, Mini and BMW Motorrad brands in India, recorded combined sales of 18,001 vehicles in 2025, marking a double-digit increase from the previous year and narrowing the gap with market leader Mercedes-Benz India. Electric vehicles accounted for about 21% of BMW’s total sales last year, rising to roughly 23% in the final quarter, underscoring the growing role of EVs in the brand’s local portfolio.

BMW Group India has outlined aggressive launch plans across its four-wheeler range. In total, the BMW brand is set to roll out 10 new products in 2026, including six all-new models and four major updates, while Mini will introduce 10 new cars. Three of the new BMW launches will be fully electric, reflecting the company’s focus on battery-electric vehicles rather than hybrids.
Industry reports indicate that the BMW iX facelift and the i5 long-wheelbase version are expected to arrive by mid-year, accounting for two of the three planned EV launches, with the third yet to be disclosed. The locally assembled iX1 long-wheelbase version remains BMW’s top-selling electric model in India and has been a key driver of EV adoption among first-time luxury buyers.

Beyond product launches, BMW Group India is expanding its retail footprint. The company plans to enter 10 new cities in 2026, supported by continued investment in dealership upgrades under its “Retail.Next” programme, as luxury vehicle demand spreads beyond major metropolitan areas.
BMW is also strengthening charging infrastructure to support wider EV adoption. A high-power charging corridor spanning about 4,000 kilometres from Jammu in northern India to Madurai in the south has been announced to facilitate long-distance electric travel along major highways.
