Donut Lab said it has unveiled a solid-state battery that is now available for original equipment manufacturers, with deployment planned across all 2026 models of Verge Motorcycles from the first quarter of next year.
The Finnish technology company said the battery can be fully charged in five minutes and will be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which opens on Jan. 6, 2026. Donut Lab said the new battery has an energy density of 400 watt-hours per kilogram and described it as ready for use in production vehicles.

“When we first introduced the Donut Motor last year at CES, many didn’t believe it was possible until they saw the technology working out on the road and setting world records for performance,” said Marko Lehtimäki, chief executive of Donut Lab. “Now, with our all-solid-state Donut Battery, Donut Lab is doing the same.”
Originally founded as an independent startup, Donut Lab is now fully owned by Verge Motorcycles, which uses the company’s technologies such as the wheel hub Donut Motor 2.0 in its TS Pro electric motorcycle. Donut Lab, however, continues to operate as a supplier to other customers and introduced its DonutOS software platform for electric vehicle development in late November.

Donut Lab said the solid-state battery is designed to enable longer range, lighter vehicle structures and greater flexibility in product design. The company also said the battery can withstand extreme temperatures, retaining more than 99% of its capacity at minus 30 degrees Celsius and at temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius without signs of ignition or degradation.
The company claims the battery has a lifespan of up to 100,000 charge cycles with minimal capacity loss. However, Donut Lab did not disclose details on the materials used in the cell, saying only that it relies on abundant and geopolitically safe materials and offers lower costs than conventional lithium-ion batteries.

Verge Motorcycles said the introduction of the new battery would not increase prices for its motorcycles. The Verge TS Pro, launched in November, currently offers a range of up to 350 kilometres, with a 10-minute charge providing up to 300 kilometres of riding range. An extended-range version using a larger battery pack offers up to 595 kilometres.
Solid-state batteries have long been viewed as a potential next step in electric mobility due to their safety and performance advantages, though most applications to date have remained in development or used semi-solid designs. Donut Lab said it delayed announcing its battery until it had been fully tested and validated in vehicles.
“As of today, these batteries are real, in production vehicles, and represent the future of electric mobility,” Lehtimäki said.
