BYD’s UK arm has expanded its retail footprint to 125 franchised dealerships, more than doubling its network over the past year as demand for its new energy vehicles continues to rise.
The Chinese automaker ended 2025 with 125 dealership locations nationwide, up from 52 a year earlier. The expansion includes 38 retail partners, 18 of which joined the network during 2025, according to the company.
BYD said the enlarged network is aimed at improving customer access to its electric and plug-in hybrid models across the UK. The company added that both new and existing partners contributed to the growth, with several expanding into additional locations.
“This milestone reflects our ambition to make world-leading new energy vehicles more accessible to UK customers,” said Steve Beattie, deputy country manager of BYD UK. He added that the expansion demonstrates strong confidence among retail partners in the brand’s long-term prospects.
Founded in 1994, BYD operates across automobiles, rail transit and electronics, and has more than 30 industrial parks worldwide. The company was the first major automaker to cease production of internal combustion-only vehicles, focusing instead on electrified powertrains.
BYD’s automotive operations are supported by proprietary technologies including the Blade Battery, the e-Platform 3.0 architecture, the DiSus intelligent body control system, and the XUANJI vehicle architecture. The company is active in more than 100 countries and regions and is a member of the Fortune Global 500.
The UK expansion positions BYD to enter 2026 with broader market coverage, as competition intensifies in the country’s rapidly growing electric vehicle sector.
