Opel will unveil the facelifted Astra range, including the Astra Sports Tourer, at the Brussels Motor Show in early January. The update marks the series’ mid-cycle refresh and aligns with similar upgrades across Stellantis compact models built on the EMP2 platform. Peugeot introduced its revised 308 earlier this year, featuring an expanded battery and redesigned front end; Opel is now applying comparable, if more restrained, enhancements to the Astra.
Exterior changes focus primarily on the front of the vehicle. Opel has introduced an illuminated brand emblem and added LED signature lighting elements within the black “Vizor” front panel, drawing design cues from the Grandland.

Air intake shapes have also been revised, with their visual prominence depending on the chosen exterior colour. The Astra’s LED headlights now incorporate matrix lighting with 25,000 pixels per side for more precise roadway illumination. Adjustments to the rear are minimal.
The Astra Electric receives several technical improvements, the most notable being an increased battery capacity. Improved cell chemistry expands usable energy from 54 kWh to 58 kWh, increasing WLTP range to 454 kilometres—34 kilometres more than the previous model. Opel continues to offer only this battery size, as EMP2-platform packaging constraints prevent the integration of larger packs such as a 75 kWh option.

The 115 kW front-mounted motor remains unchanged, with Opel noting its proven efficiency in testing. A Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function has been added, enabling owners to power external devices using a V2L adapter. Opel said this allows practical use cases such as charging e-bike batteries or operating tools away from the mains.
Interior updates include a revised cockpit layout aimed at improving clarity and a new seat design introduced across the range. Opel’s Intelli-Seats, included as standard even on entry variants for the first time, feature a central recess inspired by road-bike saddle ergonomics. The company states the patented design “reduces pressure on the tailbone,” helping maintain comfort during long journeys.
