Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will introduce a long-wheelbase version of its electric ID. Buzz Cargo from 2026, pairing the extended body with the larger 86-kWh battery as the German manufacturer continues to broaden its electric commercial vehicle lineup.
The battery-electric van has so far only been offered as a short-wheelbase model. The company said detailed technical specifications and pricing for the extended version will be announced at a later date. “Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will announce the technical details and prices of the extended ID. Buzz Cargo as soon as they are finalised,” the Hannover-based unit said in a statement.

The long-wheelbase configuration is already available on the passenger version of the ID. Buzz, where it was introduced in mid-2024. In that model, the wheelbase is extended by 25 centimetres between the axles, taking the total vehicle length from 4.71 metres to 4.96 metres, while front and rear overhangs remain unchanged. A similar layout is expected for the Cargo variant.
Fitted with the 86-kWh battery instead of the 79-kWh pack used in the standard cargo model, the extended version is expected to increase the WLTP driving range from about 460 kilometres to roughly 485–490 kilometres. Based on current German pricing, the long-wheelbase commercial version could start at just under 50,000 euros net, though Volkswagen has not confirmed pricing.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has yet to disclose how the larger wheelbase will affect payload and cargo volume. By comparison, the passenger version’s load space expands significantly with the longer wheelbase, increasing maximum luggage capacity to nearly 2,500 litres.
Separately, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will also mark its 75th anniversary with special-edition versions of the Multivan and the ID. Buzz. A total of 500 anniversary vehicles will be produced for the German market, featuring unique equipment, branding and price reductions of up to 5,344 euros on the electric ID. Buzz and 3,869 euros on the Multivan, the company said.
