BYD recorded another month of strong sales momentum in Europe in October, while Tesla continued to see declining registrations, according to data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
BYD registered 17,470 new vehicles across Europe — defined as the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (EU + EFTA + UK). This marked a 206.8 percent year-on-year increase from 5,695 units in October 2024. Tesla logged 6,964 registrations, down 48.5 percent from 13,519 units a year earlier.

Within the EU, BYD’s registrations reached 13,350 units in October, up 195.0 percent from 4,525 units a year earlier. Tesla registered 5,647 vehicles in the bloc, a 48.0 percent decline from 10,867 units during the same period last year.
Year-to-date figures further underscore the diverging trajectories of the two EV makers. From January to October, BYD registered 138,390 vehicles across Europe, a 285.0 percent surge compared with 35,949 units in the same period last year. Tesla recorded 180,688 registrations during the first ten months, down 29.6 percent from 256,495 units a year earlier.
In the EU market alone, BYD’s new vehicle registrations totaled 94,216 units over the January–October period, representing a 239.6 percent increase from 27,741 units last year. Tesla, meanwhile, counted 117,000 EU registrations, a 39.2 percent decline from 192,439 units a year earlier.
