Rivian Automotive is expanding beyond electric vehicles into the realm of artificial intelligence and robotics with the launch of a new venture called Mind Robotics, according to its third-quarter shareholder letter.
The new company aims to advance industrial AI applications that enhance operational efficiency across logistics, manufacturing, and other physical-world industries.

Mind Robotics has already secured approximately $110 million in seed funding, positioning it strongly for early growth. Rivian said the startup will leverage its vast operational and production data to create what it calls a “robotics data flywheel” — a feedback system where data from Rivian’s vehicle operations helps refine AI models for robotics, which in turn can improve industrial processes. The company believes this approach could unlock new levels of automation and intelligence in industrial systems.
This move marks another step in Rivian’s diversification strategy, following the launch of ALSO, a separate Rivian-founded company focused on micromobility and electric bikes, earlier this year.

Together, the two ventures underscore Rivian’s ambition to build an interconnected ecosystem that stretches beyond electric trucks and SUVs — one that blends transportation, AI, and robotics innovation.
While Mind Robotics is still in its early stages, Rivian’s strong data foundation and technological expertise give it a promising head start. The initiative highlights how Rivian is redefining its identity — not just as an automaker, but as a technology company building the infrastructure for the next era of intelligent mobility and automation.
