The 2026 BYD Qin L DM-i arrives as an upgraded plug-in hybrid sedan featuring enhanced fuel efficiency, new in-car technology, and improved electric range. Positioned above the Qin Plus in BYD’s lineup, the model combines long-distance capability with family-oriented practicality.
Powertrain and Performance
The 2026 Qin L DM-i continues to use BYD’s DM-i plug-in hybrid system, pairing a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 74 kW and 126 N·m of torque with two electric motor options — one delivering 120 kW and another producing 160 kW. This setup enables a pure-electric range of 128 km and an overall driving range of up to 2,148 km under NEDC standards.

Fuel consumption after battery depletion is rated at 2.79 L/100 km, and an OTA update can further reduce this to 2.6 L/100 km for the 80 km version. The model also features BYD’s Tianshen C driver-assistance system, enhancing safety and driving convenience.
Exterior and Design
The Qin L DM-i adopts BYD’s “New National Trend Dragon Face” design language, emphasizing a more refined and aerodynamic front fascia. A large lower grille dominates the nose, complemented by sleek headlamps integrated with upward “dragon whisker” light strips. These design elements give the sedan a distinctive, high-tech look while improving airflow efficiency.
Interior and Infotainment
Inside, the 2026 Qin L DM-i replaces the traditional gear lever with a column-mounted shifter, optimizing cabin space and simplifying the central layout. The upgraded DiLink100 infotainment system introduces new smart features, including a pet-themed interface, karaoke mode that works without an external microphone, and navigation synchronization through mobile gestures such as long-press drag or shake-to-share. This system also allows music subscription sharing between smartphone and vehicle.

Trims, Pricing, and Market Positioning
Two trims are available with limited-time pricing starting at 92,800 yuan ($13,600) and going up to 102,800 yuan ($15,100). Positioned as a mid-size hybrid sedan, the Qin L DM-i offers a longer wheelbase than the Qin Plus, translating to expanded interior room for passengers.
In China’s competitive hybrid market, the model rivals the Geely Galaxy A7, which starts at 81,800 yuan ($12,000) and achieved over 10,000 pre-orders on launch. With its efficiency-focused engineering, advanced cabin features, and extensive driving range, the 2026 Qin L DM-i strengthens BYD’s position in the plug-in hybrid segment.
