DS Automobiles has unveiled a major update to its compact hatchback, reintroducing it as the DS N°4 — a rebranded and restyled version of the DS 4. The model now includes a fully electric variant, the E-Tense, for the first time. Built in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the electric DS N°4 shares its platform and technology with the Opel Astra Electric and is available to order starting at €45,900.
While DS refers to the N°4 as a new model, it is effectively a facelift of the second-generation DS 4 introduced in 2021. The redesign is part of the brand’s strategy to elevate its image, with the new name inspired by French luxury branding conventions such as Chanel’s product lines.

The DS N°4 E-Tense features a 58.3 kWh usable NMC battery, offering a WLTP range of up to 450 kilometres. Charging is possible at up to 120 kW, enabling the battery to recharge from 20% to 80% in around 30 minutes. Power comes from a 156 kW (213 hp) electric motor delivering 343 Nm of torque to the front wheels, achieving 0–100 kph acceleration in 7.1 seconds with a top speed electronically limited to 170 kph.
The compact electric hatchback introduces several long-awaited features across Stellantis’ EV lineup, including battery preconditioning, intelligent route planning, and Plug & Charge capability, which will be activated from 2026.

Although the DS N°4 E-Tense shares its underpinnings with the Opel Astra Electric, it distinguishes itself through premium design and technology. At €45,900, it is around €8,000 more expensive than the Astra Electric’s base version — a price DS justifies with enhanced styling, materials, and comfort aimed at a more upscale market segment.
