Blink Charging UK has been selected to deliver the first phase of a £1.41 million electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure project across the West Yorkshire region. The company will install 716 public chargers starting at the end of 2025 under a 15-year agreement aimed at supporting residents without access to off-street parking.
The installation plan covers all five districts — Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, and Wakefield — in partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. Chargers will be deployed in both on-street and off-street locations such as public car parks, offering a range of power outputs from 3.7kW to 149kW. The initiative is partly funded through the UK government’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) scheme, which aims to expand regional charging networks and accelerate EV adoption.

“It’s an honour to be working with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority on this significant and impactful project,” said Alex Calnan, Managing Director of Europe for Blink Charging. “This LEVI funding win also marks the latest in a series of key milestones in Blink’s UK expansion, reinforcing our commitment to supporting local authorities in their net-zero ambitions.”
Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, added: “It’s fantastic to have Blink on board as we make it easier for people to switch to electric vehicles. These new charge points closer to home will bring huge benefits to people without off-street parking and contribute to improving air quality in our communities.”

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority has also secured an additional £14.3 million in capital for the second and third phases of its LEVI programme, with suppliers expected to be appointed in 2026 and 2027 as the region continues to expand its EV charging network.
